I am a bookworm and a scribbler with a passion for history, literature and all things fantastical. It is my ambition to one day become a novelist, and I would dearly love to write a fantasy epic. Perhaps I will pen something that would stand proudly shoulder-to-shoulder with the masterpieces of J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert Jordan, Tad Williams, Raymond E. Feist, and George R.R. Martin to name but a few. Having said that, I am currently working on a sci-fi novel, so who knows!
What thrills me most when I read story is the excitement of the narrative, and I seek to emulate that excitement in my short stories. I strive either to grab the reader roughly by the throat or gently beckon them on as my narratives unfold. Whichever tactic I employ, I sincerely hope that whomever stumbles across my humble efforts will enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
Thanks for the follow Adam.

Hi Adam. It’ great to meet another history-and-literature-loving-nerd. I love fantasy, too, but i’m concentrating on historical fiction right now. Believe it or not, the trilogy I’m writing started life as historical fantasy. I eventually changed the whole of Book 1 into straight historical fiction.I still have the fantasy version saved – sections of it may come in useful for another book. I really hope you pursue your ambition to become a novelist. My advice to anyone would be to start writing while you’re still young. I left it far too late.
Do you intend to have your short stories published – other than on your blog, I mean? And have you tried any of the flash fiction challenges on WP? Obviously, they ask for a lot fewer words than the usual short story, but great fun to write. They’re also excellent at helping writers to be more succinct. Writing a story in 100, or even 200, words is quite a challenge. You get good feedback form the challenge ‘community’ too. Sorry for rambling…I just wondered.
Thanks so much for the follow and kind words. I’ll have a browse through some of your posts as soon as I can. Best of luck with all future writing!

Hello, Millie ☺ Wow, that’s the longest comment I’ve ever had, thanks for taking the time to type it all!
It’s interesting to hear how your novels evolved from your original concept, I expect it came as a bit of a surprise for you. I bet hanging on to those early fantasy sections will help you in the end, as it’ll be where your first torrent of ideas came from. All is useful if it’s written down, I say! 😄 Thanks for the encouragement, I certainly do intend to pursue my ambition and it is the kind words and thoughts of people on WP which goes a long way towards helping me get there.
I hadn’t really given much thought to publishing my short stories, except of I manage to win any competitions. I keep seeing the flash fiction challenges on here and tell myself I will participate in the following one…I will take part eventually! 😂
Thanks again for taking the time to comment, it is very kind of you to spare the time when you have a third novel to write! I hope we continue to connect on here ☺ Best of luck to you, too!

Bespectacled nerd…I resemble that remark…along with the aspiration to be a succesful novelist with an epic fantasy…although in my slush pile book one of my opus magna is done but entirely shhh..even my blog extracts have fallen silent on that creation…well misty…Dead Man Walking is touching on it…but spoilers and all that…love your ambitions and thank you so much for visiting my humble abode. I shall also follow you on the basis of the openers to this comment 🙃
